Subbody Butoh process opens by shifting from everyday mode to subconscious mode through medi-motion and various conditionings. In movement, the body and mind melt into one, everything relates to each other, resonates, appears and disappears infinitely.
The space gently guides us into the darkness of the body. This space, where all distinctions are blurred, is an unknown that cannot be known through everyday thinking or language. The unknown beyond duality. Mysterious with deep life secret becomes flower with novel beauties.

Subbody Butoh, unlike other butoh, has developed variety of tools in group resonance experiments. Connect Separate freely in the infinite creative patterns.
The subconscious realm is non-dual and has no boundaries. There are resonances without any differentiation; life is continuously resonating with everything in the subconscious realm. When we sink in the subbody mode, we become aware that there is no distinction between self and others. We encounter ourselves in others and vice versa, exploring infinite resonance patterns between self and others, worlds, and discovering many hidden selves in the emptiness of boundaries. It is a creative and insightful process to observe and transform these boundaries, whether they are introverted or extroverted.

BUTOH MIDWIFE
In subbody Butoh, there is a midwife instead of a teacher. When we explore the space between ourselves and the world through Butoh, hidden story, character, emotion, memory, and relationship, etc. within us are embodied in our bodies, just as a fetus comes into the world. Midwife creates multidimensional support for the subbody fetus, listening all internal external conditions. The midwives listen to the body together, dance together, and resonate, integrate with blurring the boundaries between participant and midwife.

The souls that come and go infinitely dance as they move in and out of their bodies. Is the body the home of the soul?
Is the body the path that the souls pass through?
Can we see the dance of the souls that move in and out of the body?
Perhaps the wind, the wind that passes through every corner of the body and spreads transparently in all directions, resonates with the dance of the souls?

The waves that are driven by the wind are coming, and a seal is watching us from afar. Ten million songs become the wind and penetrate the body. The curious camera presses the shutter humbly but dynamically, waiting to see if it can capture that wind path.
I don't enjoy so much to dance with being witnessed by camera. But sometimes I really curious how the butoh or body language can open different resonance pattern with camera? Is it possible to capture the essence of butoh by camera? How the camera can dance together?
For those curiosities, I really enjoy to work with Raul Bartolome who is film, photo artist and also a butoh dancer. This series is one of the collaboration with him.
